EVENT INFORMATION

Date : Sunday May 21, 2023
Time : All Races Start at 8:00am CT
Location : Deer Grove Forest Preserve
1 W Deer Ct, Palatine, IL 60067
The Deer Grove Trail Half Marathon and 10K traverses the wide crushed limestone trails as well as the rugged single track throughout Deer Grove West. Athletes can expect a wide variety of terrain including crushed limestone, dirt, a tiny bit of old, crumbling asphalt, and a bit of asphalt parking lot near the finish line. The outer 10k loop consists of wider, crushed limestone trails. These trails are fairly smooth, fairly free of obstacles, and have some gentle, rolling hills. Once you have hit the 10k finish area you will continue on to the rugged single track trails. Here you can expect lots of roots, stumps, and branches/logs to jump over. You can also expect multiple creek crossings. If you are lucky and it has been a rainy spring, the creek crossings can be anywhere from ankle to knee deep. Don’t worry, most can be jumped, but you will get your feet wet in a few. Come on out and enjoy the beauty and challenges of Deer Grove West.
IMPORTANT NOTES
This event will be cup-less. There will be no disposable cups at the aid stations. You will need to bring your own cup or bottle to fill at the aid stations. There will be collapsible cups on race day for sale if you forget yours. We want to make it clear that any persons found littering will be automatically disqualified and asked to leave the event.
